ITR Backlog: Govt Reports 24.6 Lakh Returns Pending Over 90 Days
This tax season, many Indian taxpayers are facing an unexpected wait. We filed our Income Tax Returns (ITR) for Assessment Year 2025‑26 on time. Yet, a large portion of these returns is still stuck in processing. The government has now officially reported that 24.64 lakh ITRs are pending for more than 90 days. That means hundreds of thousands of taxpayers are waiting for updates and refunds much longer than usual.
